The mission of the Chouteau grotto is, in part, to “promote the preservation of caves, watershed areas, conservation of caves and their natural content; to promote good will with land owners and promote caver safety.”
MEETINGS: Meetings are held the first Wednesday of each month from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Daniel Boone Regional Library, 100 West Broadway, Columbia Missouri, unless otherwise posted. Meetings are open to the public and are free to attend.
PEOPLE WISHING TO JOIN: Because cave locations often involve private land or permits to visit and other sensitive information surrounding caves, we only allow access to people we know. Therefore, for us to get to know you, you must attend at least one meeting or a grotto-sponsored event prior to receiving access to sensitive information. The requirements to become a full Chouteau Grotto member are to pay grotto dues $10/year, come to at least one meeting and to go caving with us at least once.
